    Joist sizes for decking

Hi, We are looking to add some decking in our garden to an area up to 2.9m x 7.9m, this is the largest area so it may be smaller. Currently there is a solid hardcore base topped with gravel and some slabs. I did plan on using 150mm x 47mm for the joists and frame but this may be a bit high as...

Hi, We have a side entrance to our house that I would like to cover. Its approx 1m wide by about 6m long. There is a wooden fence to the other side. I planned on using a piece of 6 x 2 to fix to the wall to hang the joists from. I am not sure what to do at the fence side as I only have about 2...

    Is it a good quote?

Hi, We plan to convert our internal garage into another room. We had a quoite from a builder who did a similar build to a nearby house. The quote was about 4.5k. This was to add a doorway from the house to the garage, level the floor as its on a slight slope, add plasterboard where needed...

    CORRAPOL-PVC Flashing sealing

Hi, I am looking to fit some corrgated PVC sheets to my veranda and also purchased the CORRAPOL-PVC Flashing. I wonder how it is sealed against rain as if its just fitted against the wall it will leave gaps, where the mortar is. I guess leading flashing would work but I wanted to do this...

    Suggestions for Polycarbobnate roof

10mm will be cheaper then 16mm and I am not worried about insulation as it is a open cover to keep shelter from the rain mainly. I will have joists too so just need the sealing bars.

    Suggestions for Polycarbobnate roof

Hi, I plan on making a outside cover about 3 x 4m. I have looked at the polycarboante roofing but would 10mm be better than 16mm for letting light in? If I use the 690m width ones as strength is not an issue as it wone be walked on. I prefer this to the look of the corrugated plastic or is the...

    Repair Wooden Chest

It does fit quite snug back and hard to notice from the top when just pushed together so a clean break and no bits have split away. I have take a picture of the whole split and when pushed together, its a rustic look so not fine furniture, just did not want anything obvious showing if possible.

    Repair Wooden Chest

Hi, We had a wooden chest made for our lounge from scaffold boards, all fine except the lid has split in two. I would like to know the best way to repair, so the top does not show any joint.
