Right to buy was already in .It was not a thatcher idea but. She must have been laughing her socks off ,Give all these people there own house get them tied up with mortgages .Then see if the unions could get the strike vote.
She broke the union strangle hold on this country and rightly so.
Yeah i knew loads of guys who got made redundant, mainly from a big nationilsed company and to be honest .
No feking wonder as an 18 year old i gave my mate a lift back up to work on a sunday to clock out. He took ten cards in his hand and gave me 8 .Clocked them all out. 18 guys double time 7 hours and only ONE had been in for 2 hours. And funny enough they complained when mcgregor said we need to cut costs

If Thatcher was so bad, so unpopular and cost everyone money - then why was she voted in time and again? Think about it.

if she was so great, why did she get booted out?

think about it

Joe, seriously. What do you think changed in the World economy that brough down Thatcher and subsequently the Conservative government?

working for the Queen, were you?

you must have had a very limited range of acquaintances.
Well, I was when Maggie first came in, but then I was off into civvy street. No one I have ever known has ever been made redundant. Sacked for being nobs yes; redundancy no.

We were heading towards recession. Have you forgotten Black Monday?

We were heading towards recession. Have you forgotten Black Monday?
what, like Black Monday, January 21, 2008 – the biggest worldwide stock market crash since September 11, 2001. FTSE 100 had its biggest ever one-day points fall, European stocks closed with their worst result since September 11, 2001, and Asian stocks dropped as much as 15%

Or did you mean Black Monday, 19 October 1987 – the second largest one-day decline in recorded stock market history?

Does it matter? The second biggest fall led to the second biggest recession. The one we are heading into will last forever and ever. It's mathematics, John.

That's true. The absence of anything (nothing) will last forever. Very astute of you John.
