here's a more useful report, on much higher numbers in the real world, from a small country with a good health system

https://www.bmj.com/content/372/bmj.n523

more significant volumes. 1.14 million vaccine doses. Within a population of 5.4 million

American tests have revealed that the AZ vaccine is 100% effective in reducing serious symptoms of COVID.

Can’t get better than that.

How does that compare to other vaccines?

Is AZ better?

probably around the same

none of the pre-approval tests will tell you, because they used different protocols and different test populations, of different ages, in different places, at different times.

the real-life rollout of 30 million doses in a population of 66 million, will give much better information when it is analysed. By the time we get really good information, UK and US, at least, will probably have vaccinated almost all the adult population (except Trumpists). Things are moving fast.

When you've looked at the link I posted above, here's one for a larger country, slightly later, with similar findings.

incidentally, I was just looking at an article published on January 29th.

Allowing for the time it takes to vaccinate the most vulnerable people, the time it takes for immunity to reach its peak, and the time it takes for a person to get infected, become sick, worsen, and, sometimes, die, Harford wrote:

"The ARG estimates that the vaccination that has already taken place is making deaths in hospital about 5 to 10 per cent lower than they would otherwise be. That is important, but imperceptible in the roar of the second wave. In contrast, by the end of February, vaccination should reduce deaths by two-thirds; by the end of March, they should be reduced by about 85 per cent, relative to a no-vaccine scenario."

In fact, we started seeing significant improvements in hospitalisation numbers earlier (see the February report from Scotland).

Wow. Thanks for the insight into your life.
Keep it up. Lol.

in Portugal, is there a difference in reduction, between vaccinated groups and unvaccinated groups?
I haven't seen any reference to that.

Given that 'only' 10% (elderly) have been vaccinated yet the figures are similar, proportionate for the population, to the UK's, the UK might be misguided in thinking it is because of the vaccinations.

Nicotine patches
