Yes at worktop height LV is almost three times as effecient in terms of lux levels produced.

stop being pedantic bas, just because the electrical industry use different terminology than the lighting manufacturs doesn't mean you need to ram it home in every post on the subject.

I don't "ram it home in every post on the subject", nor was I being grumpy about it. I've explained the difference when asked more often than I have mentioned it "gratuitously".

But I can't agree that it's mere pedantry. The fact is that the law, i.e. Statutory Instrument 2004 No. 3210 The Building (Amendment) (No.3) Regulations 2004 uses the two terms correctly, according to their IEC/CENELEC/BS7671 definition, so given that the law applies to everybody doing any electrical work in dwellings, IMHO it's pretty important that people do understand what LV and ELV mean. Otherwise it only needs someone to miss the definitions in the S.I. and then to read a schedule which has the phrase "Installation of fixed low or extra-low voltage electrical installations." for them to possibly misunderstand what the law says....
