Because I can make the hole any size that I choose.

It's not the size of the hole (in the wall) that is the issue but, rather, the dimensions of available back boxes.

Are you perhaps proposing not to use a 'proper' back box, or maybe no back box at all?

That's certainly a little bigger than any I have here, but don't forget that the dimensions given are probably external ones.

I don't see any dimensions given for that one - am I missing them? However, it's a Crabtree, as was one of the ones I measured here.
