Anyone got a spare knob for a 'Glowworm Spacesave 38 or 50' boiler,
the one that sits on the gas valve.

Mine has just disintegrated and have now found that spares are
no longer available.

Its only 33 years old and still works fine, apart from the knobby.
Boiler servicer is quoting me 2k for a new fully pumped system. !!!!!

Here's hoping.

Is this the straw-hat shaped one, usually blue but sometimes white?

There is a knob assembly listed:

Its the one with 'OFF...PILOT...ON' controls
about the size of a 50p but round.

I'll say it then - we need to know what colour yer knob is.

I've got a broken BROWN knob :(
but looking in my Glow-worm manual they also come in WHITE :D

Many thanks ChrisR and Corgigazza for the picts but
they don't look quiet right.
Look a bit on the large size for my Space-Saver boiler !

My tatty old boiler manual quotes part no K6466 for the
half inch Midgitrol combination gas valve made by Maclaren.

Cheers

Someone correct me if I've got it wrong, but ISTR McLaren is not in the gas valve business any more....
If so, spares for a McLaren valve may well be a problem.

Can't you go to Engineering workshop where they can turn/drill/make you a new knob ??

I bet the shaft that the knob slides onto is round with a tangental flat on it. old radios have lots of these. It's quite likely a standard size too.
