Hi,

Are there any particular gaps/separation distances required where a gas pipe crosses horiziontally behind a soil stack on an external wall ... when an exploratory sample of 22mm pipe is on Talon clips it just touches the soil stack.

Gas hob installation: is sealant 'putty' around the perimeter of the hob a regulation requirement, or could something else be used (that would also allow removal when required).
Anyone know what the stuff is, feels like a cross between bluetac and glazing putty.
I see a form of foam tape is offered, but dont see that lasting long.

Thanks.

Both sealants around hobs are utter crap...run a thin bead of clear silicon around.

Agree the putty sealants seem an odd solution, it never cures. I did think of using Dow 700 Firestop intumiscent sealant, not such as aggressive grip, allowing the hob to be separated from the work surface (silicon in the right circumstances sticks ilke s**t). Not sure of Firestop's moisture resisting qualities.

Could anyone comment on the pipe gap between vertical soil stack and horizontal run of 22mm copper - for a gas supply.

You won't get an answer to that I'm afraid. It all hangs around the safe use of gas pipe(s) and we are not allowed to comment on gas work in the public forum
