Had a call to rented accommodation, no lights. Apparently the board had been replaced a couple of years ago, no certs, no notification etc. The 1mm lighting circuit was been fed from a 32amp mcb.

What was the fault that caused the overcurrent?
stillp, It was a loose connection at the mcb, so a bit over heating etc and the cable failed there. I've already sent an email and photo to the owner via letting agent, informing them of their responsibilities.

If the burning is the result of a loose connection, it would have done the same on a 6 A mcb! Not that that's an excuse for 1mm² on a B32.
