I run a small business in Leeds. It has a large car park which needs weeding, sweeping and generally tidying. Probably once a week. What would you consider to be the going rate for this? Any recommendations?

£15-20 per person an hour if someone is coming in a van with tools etc. They will also need a waste carrier permit if you want them to take any rubbish away.

£5 cash for a pensioner who then puts the small amount of debris in your wheely bin

Be fair, £10 for a pensioner. "They fought in the war you know, if it wasn't for them we'd all be speaking German"

Or £5 and a free recharge for the buggy.

Most PhD graduates should be around minimum wage these days.

OK - so does anyone want to recommend either a Dad's Army type or a phd person in Leeds?

Dad's Army types can sometimes be found delivering local newspapers if they failed the interview for B&Q. The female equivalents run citizen's advice bureaux and make the feckless line up neatly for debt counselling.

PhD persons hang around cafes smelling of dope except on 'signing days'.

Local nonconformist chapels may be a source of reliable geriatricals.
