Morning all,

Just had a chap to hang door, skirting and architrave. Generally very happy with the work but a few runs of skirting are damaged, photo below.

He's back this afternoon so will have a chat, but for a sanity check, this isn't an acceptable standard to leave a job is it?

I'm willing to look past a few marks they've left on the walls, but don't fancy making good this myself.

Should not have fitted that or was it damaged after fitting?

Thanks for confirmation.

If it was damaged after fitting it was by the carpenter, I saw it when they'd left.

Didn't inspect whilst they were here as not finished yet.

Absolutely not acceptable, can't see how that would get damaged after being fitted to the wall and not leave any mark on the wall. Easily fixable if he turns out to be a dick about it of course but that's not what you asked.

Is that the bit where the string holds the lengths of skirting together was?
If you're painting it, then it's not a problem.
Is that light brown silicone between wall and skirting or just picture shadow?

I don't know which is more unacceptable - the actual damage or just not telling the client and explaining what will or should be done.

I would expect any person doing that type of work to have some white and coloured filler with them as standard for these situations, or use some glue and timber splice.

Thats just a shadow, the rest of the work is to a good standard, nicely joined and sanded where needed.

Hoping this is just an oversight, but as he's not been paid yet we will see...

Thanks for the feedback, will update with his response.
