Hi All, great site!

I am buying a new build house and have found no insulation has been added to the upstairs internal walls as per the building regs (single thickness of plasterboard too).

What is the best way to fill this once I move in? I could drill from the loft down into the walls and put some sort of insulation beads, but what is the best type for sound insulation? Also consider fire safety issues as they is a electric socket and a few light switches in the wall.

Down stairs is all solid walls, so not a problem.

Use caution with cavity wall beads, the polystyrene ones can react with the insulation on cables and cause a great deal of damage to them.

After a little research, the builder is doing it right - so no need for any additional insulation.

Thanks for your reply.
