Advice Please - Light Fitting Related

Hi there everyone.

New to the forum, just wondered if you could advise me on this..

Basicly, came downstairs this morning to find the Light Fitting on the floor, basicly pulled itself away from the wire.

Here I include Pictures of the Fitting, and the 2 Wires protruding from the fitting.

If you could tell me which wire goes where, I'll be able to get it sorted.

You nead to strip some of the flex back to remove all the burnt stuff.

Then it doesn't matter which wire goes in which terminal on the lampholder.

I think you need to buy a new one, there should be a white bakelite cover over it. You also need to strip the wire back on the flex as it isn't looking very nice.

One in each connector, doesn't matter which - redo the cable ends though as they are burnt and frayed

Will sort the frayed wire out first then reconnect.

Do you have the white bakelite top and bottom?

Aye, Took it all apart to get a better look.

Just need to slot it all back together and there we go.

just checking what wattage and type of lamp are you putting in the lampholder?

The wires need to go around the hooks on both sides to take the strain. Also, remember to put the cover onto the cable before connecting up!
