I think it's more than unfortunate the country didn't have another decade of the small freedoms they'd started to enjoy. That way, it might have been slightly more challenging for the Talliban to reimpose their draconian rules as a whole generation would have gone through birth, education then work/career and possibly starting their own family under the slightly more free regime. Imagine, under the guise of religion, being so weak and pathetic that you feel the need to quash females in terms of freedom.

i have a mate that regularly took in holdalls with half a million dollars in them to pay off the warlords to get them onside then a year later back in buying off the same warlords went on for years with dozens of them
