Just found out that the High pressure hose from the compressor is leaking from the swaging (crimping) at the joint at the compressor. Anyone got any ideas for a replacement (location - NE England) without paying Ford's ruinous prices.
I guess this is probably aimed at you Burnaman :D

Try an automotive air con specialist, a few listed here:

You could get a pipe from a scrappy or, partsgateway, breakyard.co.uk etc. but you will need someone to fit it. It is not really a DIY job as you need specialist tools for degassing and refilling the system. I also read in Car Mechanics mag that soon it will be illegal for un-qualified people to work on car air con systems. Not sure if that has come in yet or not. Although if you did do it yourself no one would know!

A mate of mine had his diagnosed and repaired by Advanced Radiators, Newburn. Canny firm - I've had them come out to me which was handy.

Thanks for your input. I took the car for re gassing today but it failed due to the leaking hose, therefore there is no gas in the system. I am competent enough to change the hose, just dont want to pay Fords ridiculous prices. I paid the outfit that tried to re gas it and found the leaking hose. They said that once I have repaired it they will re gas it one more time freee of charge

Thanks John. I was just thinking about advanced radiators from a link sent by iwaters. They advertise manufacture of replacement pipes.

When I was in engineering my company manufactured all of its own hydraulic hoses for buttons. Ive been told that Ford will demand the thick end of £100 for one hose. Flipping racketeering!

Ok thanks to all for input. Update :- Spoke to Jennings Ford about requirement for high pressure A/C pipe from compressor, The guy said he was struggling to identify it, but if it was the one he thought it was it would be £94  but it would be helpful if I could bring it in for ID.
I removed the pipe. I had to remove the offside headlight to gain access, and took it to Advanced Radiators at Newburn where the guys said maybe but could not guarantee and would have to wait till Monday when the pipe guys were in and it would cost around £60 + vat. I then decided to bite the bullet and took it to Jennings where we eventually identified it from their next to useless parts illustrations. There was no stock and it will be delivered Monday at a cost of £74  For this :-

I will then take it here for my free re gas. These guys actually seem a decent outfit, £35 for a re gas and if a leak is found they will do one more free after the repair
