I have a Valient ecoTEC combi boiler installed in 2012

Is there an alarm fitted within the boiler - as an alarm sound is coming from the boiler which sounds like a smoke alarm - but it's not that

The dial by the on/off button is showing in the red sector

The noise of the alarm can be heard all over the house and it could keep us up all night (New years eve !)

Any advice welcome

It's an EcoTEC 837

I have turned the boiler off and the dial is showing at the top RH side in the green section - no longer in the red

The alarm has stopped sounding

have you had to top it up at all recently? can you look at the discharge pipe (copper pipe terminating somewhere outside usually near the boiler) and if so has any (hot) water been coming out?

Thank you

The alarm issue has been solved, as Essex Fire Brigade Home Service called yesterday to replace the old type smoke alarms with the newer 10 year ones
An old type smoke alarm was thrown into a flip lid waste bin alongside the boiler without the battery being taken out - and this was where the alarm sound was coming from !

The problem with the boiler showing the bar dial in red, will be addressed by the central heating company who installed it when they call tomorrow. They assure me that the boiler is "safe" to use - hope they are right !

Yes it should be safe, as the safety valve will open if it gets too high.
