What do we think about the verdict regarding Alec Baldwin?

Personally I always believed that actors were always to be given 'safe' props, such as dummy knives, fake swords, blunt scissors, etc.

Surely someone in charge of the props hasn't done their job properly?

Iirc, he wasn't "just an actor" on this set though, was he?

He'd have had wider responsibilities.

I'm not reassured by American "justice" though, especially not when celebs are involved.

If you are passed a firearm which is capable of firing live ammunition, you check that it is unloaded.

It is your responsibility.

You NEVER pull the trigger without checking this.

I agree, you never point guns, loaded or otherwise.

And I suppose if you ARE going to pull the trigger, you would point the gun the away from people.

But this is one time when Health and Safety or the equivalent really is needed.

I mean, should he have had some kind of basic training?

Should the gun have had it's innards removed?

Are they using real guns simply to make the film more realistic, at such at high risk?

I don't know the full story of the case, and no one should be larking about with a gun, but I do feel a real working gun should never have been allowed on a film set, or handed to an actor.

I can’t for the life of me imagine how there could be live ammo on set.

Which makes me think it’s murder.

Well, yes. The pen is mightier than the sword, but no match for a bullet. You can very easily kill someone with a spoon or a pencil, if you know how to misuse them.
