The warning lights flashing half way through a wash indicate a blocked pump filter. the manual gives instructions on how to remove and clean it but can I safely do this without causing a flood when the machine is full. If not how can I drain and empty it first as the machine when nothing is working?

On some machines there is a small hose which you can empty the water from. The hose is normally in the front flap or under the front plinth. To empty it use a builders rubble bag (with no holes in it) or a decorators paint tray.

If you remove the drain hose from the stand pie or wherever else it is attached to & drop it to floor level then the machine will empty via gravity. The easiest way, if possible, is to put the hose through an external door opening but alternatively you could use a shallow dish.
