A member showing signs of paranoid schizophrenia was trying to find my details to sue me for defamation of character because allegedly I had spoken about them in a forum I am not even member of and confessed it to him.
Of course this was all in his mind.
Is history repeating itself???

If you are that concerned maybe best not seek tradespersons from a forum, but search locally?

Anyway, you never know about any person you invite into your house, sometimes it's better the devil you know! I should point out that i am not pointing fingers at anybody here when i say devil!

Just saying that a very argumentative "other" member asked to reveal personal identity of tradesmen.
This "other" member is usually steering every thread into an argument about racism, general snowflaking, vaxxers/non-vaxxers, upside down politics, English grammar (which he's got very little understanding of), arguing at every opportunity with the same members for trivial reasons, making up criminal offenses, dragging on lost arguments in the hope others get bored and leave so to feel like he's won, dream of posts that never existed and argue about them, etc.
Just some little similarities.

I have seen others call out the rubbish posted, and I have seen those posting rubbish usually resorting to one or more of the usual tactics to avoid scrutiny.
I'm beginning to see I have a hounding by a group of people, all employing tactic number 3, resort to accusations of previous banned person, and by implication employing tactic number 4, tribalism.
So far, I think it's something like, Bodd, transam, yourself, johnny2007, ihavennojob, all resorting to tactic number 3 and 4. Anyone I've overlooked? Anyone else want to join in?

Tactic number 3 again, so predictable.
I expect to be having some serious amount of work done on my house. I would like to be confident that the tradespeople will be honest and trustworthy.
Some of the comments I have seen so far, make me realise that I need some serious certification or whatever from the contractors as to the trustworthiness of their employees.

dunno how it works in France tbh but I dare say its alot of cash in hand caper

and envelopes stuffed with cash for the local council if you need permissions

you may be able to get some cheap labour from the Calais area

I am not intending to recruit trades people from this site.
It wouldn't be me doing the recruiting, The work, hopefully will be insurance funded, and I assume they will be responsible for recruiting the trades.
I can however insist on vetting all those that will be working in and around my house, that they are not some of the limited number of obviously dishonest and prejudiced people that inhabit this site and post such horrendous nonsense. I wouldn't want them anywhere near the work on my house.
I am also aware that there are people posting form various locations in the country, so locally is not really relevant in this situation. I have also heard mention of possibly underpinning, which I gather is a bit of a specialist job, so 'locally' may not apply.

who is going to pay for the trip to France ? board and lodgings ect doubt insurance will pick up the tab ?

would it not be cheaper to get local French trades ?
