wear a watch, shows you're punctual and organised
don't wear too much / any bling.. wedding ring if you must ( but not if you're applying for machining jobs etc where you would have to take it off anyway.. etc.. )

your spec letter may be too complex.. would you sit and read 6 pages and wade through a load of certificates etc?

a one page covering letter and a copy of your 2 page CV should be sufficient..

if you give them all the info up front then they don't have to get you in to get the rest do they?

if all else fails, try sending spec letters to 50 of the companies locally who you think you could work for..

I sent mine out yesterday, got a call this morning, interview this afternoon, call back this evening, start on monday!!!! result!!!

Hi all, bit late I know but here goes. Didn't get the job with the council, apparently I lived too far away (why offer me an interview), never mind...I kept writing to local companies and now I'm eployed with a local plubing/gas firm. Good things come to those who wait eh!

You gotta learn, learn, learn my friend. Soak up as much experience as you can till you get all the badges then do a few jobs on the weekends until one day you can set yourself up and go it alone.
