Anybody help me out on this please???

hey everyone ive just joined as have spent hours searching the net for an answer and im hoping youse can help me ,
right anyways ill just get to it ,
basically i have a plug socket in my kitchen which looks to be part of a daisy chain i rekon as it has 2 live 2 earth n 2 neutrals going to it could i add another socket to that so that now on back of the socket there will be 3 wires going to each connection,
really hope to hear back from someone soon ,

Yes you could with several provisos:
Does you current socket circuit have RCD protection?
If it does then the you can add one additional double socket to each socket already on the circuit providing that socket is not a spur itself. Or any number if you connect the new socket through a fused connection unit.

If the circuit doesn't have RCD protection then you will need to either bury the cable more than 50mm below the surface or provide it will some form of mechanical protection.
 
Of course, you should first prove that the socket is indeed on the ring by testing for continuity between the red-red, black-black, earth-earth. Obviously with the power off and socket disconnected.

Neither of which will address the requirement for the new socket outlet to be on an RCD.....
 
Nor the fact that being in a kitchen, the work would be notifiable.

Given the scale of LABC fees, it'd almost certainly be cheaper to get a registered spark in who can notify through his registration scheme.

Why does he need to know if it's a ring - can he not add a socket to a radial? :)
