Appliances in bathrooms?

I heard about this crazy idea before the new regs arrived, thought it was mad.

I was told it was coming in, had not decided about the zoning by then.

But I was told that sockets and light switches would have to be suitably IP rated.

Can you imagine what an IP65 rated socket will look like in a swanky new bathroom!!!!!!

Anyone here actually prepared to do this sort of work????

Why would a socket need to be IP65 rated if it were 3 metres from the bath/shower????

I think that you will find that this "new" reg is an attempt by IET to bring together the existing reg re sockets in a room containg a shower (a bedroom eg) and the regs re bathrooms.
Its probably not so well thought out (IMHO) and brings us no closer to the socket regs enjoyed by our European neighbours.
