Hi there

There are two bedrooms in our flat that has thick 80's style artex over all the walls. What is the best way to remove this. I think it's a bit to bumpy for a skim over as it raised about 10mm from the wall, and am aware there is probably aspestos in the artex.

Any advice would be great.

Cheers

If there is asbestos in the artex I would seriously consider getting a professional company in to remove it. This can be very expensive. There are companies out there that will test the artex for asbestos and provide you with a report.

I have done this in the past.
It was tedious and took many hours.
There are various preparations you can obtain to help.
All of them can be dangerous, and you need adequate protection equipment.
There is also the problem of damaging the plaster.
Extreme care is needed for this job.

Best to call in the professionals, but as you can expect, they are not cheap.

give it a coat of bonding and then skim over or if youve got the space dab boards over and skim.
