ExactlyIt's the precise reason that this bill has been legislated for so long. It's to protect people like Pete from greedy, needy, in debt up to their eyeballs, scrounging sprogs.

But Pete said this earlier, without actually considering individual circumstances....Exactly
Well it makes sense to me, if I can end my life before I need care (assuming im able to and have still got capacity) my family get my money

I don't think we should have a choice, it isn't something that I would like to make. Would insurance still stand? I have a sneaky suspicion they would look at this as suicide. But you said this earlier, without actually considering individual circumstances....
Not everyone has the same situation.
But earlier you mention 'local councils will assess your finances' and that they would not like you to leave your money to the kids. What did you mean by that?Exactly

I can see anyone that has taken the Hippocratic Oath being very uncomfortable with it. It seems like it needs a doctor to show a lawyer how to end the life of a patient.Perhaps it may have to be administered privately, I can't see the NHS doing this, it sort of goes against their principles.

I know it would have to be looked at case by case but I'm saying if I've been told I've got say 6 months left to live but I'll be in care with no quality of life then I could say no ill end my life now and not pay the 2k a week care costs..But earlier you mention 'local councils will assess your finances' and that they would not like you to leave your money to the kids. Ending the life of an individual purely for financial reasons, is one of the main factors why the Bill has been widely debated and why permission should be refused on those grounds alone.I don't want to add to some ceo's big yearly bonus if I can help it.

But it wouldn't be for financial ressons it would be because I don't want someone feeding me and taking me to the toilet for the last few months of my life, not paying and the kids getting the money is just a bonusEnding the life of an individual purely for financial reasons, is one of the main factors why the Bill has been widely debated and why permission should be refused on those grounds alone.
You just said this...But it wouldn't be for financial ressons

Maybe it boils down to money, if I end it while I can my kids get my money, maybe they don't like that?

Its my opinion I'm allowed it, if I had to vote I'd for for it, people deserve dignity at end of life. You just said this...
And this...
And this...
If it ever comes to choosing to end your life, don't show the family lawyer this thread.![]()
I'd vote for it too. However, I'm also aware of the implications of such a bill. It could be a lawyers dream. Its my opinion I'm allowed it, if I had to vote I'd for for it, people deserve dignity at end of life.
Trés noble.Whatever I've got I want my kids to have
If you need care, then why not?not go on care costs
I'm sure anyone reading your financial reasons for ending your life would debate that.that doesn't mean I'm gonna end my life just for the sake of it and it won't be that simple anyway
