Afternoon all.
I apologise in advance if this has been asked before but I didn’t try a search before posting.
I have a back-boiler system in my 1970’s house which supplies my hot water and my central heating. As of last night I had neither. The boiler does not seem to be “firing up” on command. It just has the pilot light burning.
I quickly eliminated the thermostat by shorting it out so it gave a constant close circuit which should under normal operation start the system. This did not work and before I give up and call a plumber I was hoping if you people could give me a few other ideas on what to try. I hope that it is just the boiler not receiving the signal to “fire up” but if it is the boiler then I understand that it could be more serious.
My timer seems to be working ok, I haven’t tested it fully yet as I am unsure of how it is wired ( if when I get home I post the model numbers of the timer and boiler could someone supply a circuit diagram?) but the internal relays seem to be switching correctly when requested.
I am an electrical engineer but as you can tell im no plumber. Please help!
Thanks in advance
Kieran
