Hi

Over the past six years we have had some electrical popping/loud bang from under the floor board in the back room. This would happen months apart and sometimes when it happened hours apart between individual bangs and we would get one of four or eight it was quite random.

We called out an emergency electrician twice but they said it was all safe and no fuses had been tripped.

We have had four tonight over a period of five hours. They seem to come more when it rains but have come in dry weather. Always at night.

Our first eight were on valentine's Day and that came with a big flash of golden light outside the back door as the bangs come from not too far from the back door.

The second lot came exactly a year later to the day.

We have had them on mother's Day, bank holidays but also two lots on random days and now today. Hoping for a logical explanation of anyone has one? It's definitely an electrical sounding bang.

Many thanks!!?

Call your supplier or DNO it sounds like a supply cable fault underground, the noise being transmitted into the house & sounding like it is coming from under the floorboards. A neighbour had exactly this problem just as you describe.

I was called to a similar problem, when the boards were lifted it revealed a screw through the cooker cable and molten mess of all the other cables in the same notch, but I agree with jj4091

Thank you all I will look into this, appreciate your help. The electric meter is in the hall so quite a distance away.

Thanks

It would seem odd that out of all the times it has happened, a fuse or Mcb has never gone off.

Yes I know that's why it's so weird! Thanks it started when we pulled up the carpet in the room.!

Did you put them nail carpet grips round the edge ?

Don’t give yourself a shock after lifting the carpet

We just lifted the carpet and painted the floor boards no carpet down now:)

Referring to my previous post, the banging had been going on for some months, I think the offending screw had been making momentary contact between L&E and clearing as people walked across the floor, the CPD was a 3036, I was only called when they were getting shocks off the cooker

As you say quite possibly old rewirable fuses, bit unclear what the Op actually has.
The back door area is a likely place for a bit of substandard diy to the garden or out buildings to be connected

Thank you all I will investigate I appreciate all your knowledge, thanks
