Basic pay, for a 19 YO in the British Army??

There are a great many civvy jobs where your not putting your life on the line, not getting treated like crap and having to be at the peak of physical fitness that pay a heck of a lot more than that.

Heck even going into nursing starts at 20k although does not rise as well.

Still, makes a man of ya (even if your a woman )

Bare in mind aswell the current minimum wage for 18-20yr old is only £6.83 per hour. And you don't get to shoot guns if you work at maccy d/tesco

I assume they get free barracks accommodation and food, which is a big benefit these days

I found a figure which suggested £200 pm deduction for accommodation, but not clear whether that includes food. Wish I could live all in for £200 pm

Food and accomodation are paid for. It depends on the standard of accomodation how much is charged. The RN has pay as you dine, so basically you only get charged for meals that you eat rather than a flat rate. I dont know if its different in the army or whilst on courses etc.
