been pulling my hair out with this one, and its prob a stupid question but:

if a 2x 2.5 cable can be wired into a 32a ring because the combined cable ratings are greater than the mcb, then why is a single spur allowed per outlet if that single 2.5 cables rating is less than the mcb protecting it?

In a spur the MCB provides fault protection, overload protection is from the fuse in the plugtop/FCU downstream.
 
because of the stipulation of having only one single or one double socket outlet, or one FCU for the connection of fixed equipment, then the load on the cable is limited to 13A for the FCU and socket, or 26A for the double..

so obvious really, was only looking at circuit from one end if you know what i mean, never thought of whats in the plug....
