We live in a 1930s house and have a walk-in shower in the bathroom with a double window. The current extractor fan is installed on the wall adjacent to the shower, and we usually keep the window open while showering.

Despite this, we experience a lot of condensation, which has led to mould growth on the walls. After each shower, the walls are left dripping wet. When we moved in, the shower had a ceiling-mounted waterfall-style shower head, which I believe is too large for the space and contributes significantly to the condensation issue.

From what I’ve read, many people recommend installing a positive input ventilation (PIV) system through the ceiling and loft to help resolve this kind of problem. However, we have a loft conversion, so this isn't really a practical option for us.

Are there any alternative solutions or specific types/brands of extractor fans that people would recommend to effectively reduce condensation and humidity in this kind of setup?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Well insulated walls help but you probably need a ceiling mounted inline extractor with override.

Has the shower got over run with a condensation sensor? I used anti condensation paint in our bathroom that contains small fibre glass fibres that make the wall warmer to touch.

What is on the walls that are getting mouldy? Is it paint, wallpaper or tiles?

Keep the window shut and make sure the air gap under the door is 6 to 10 mm so that the fan draws dry air into the room
This made a huge difference for me, i was having the same kind of problems.
I also changed my fan to an iCON 15 with additional run on module which works well

Excuse the pun but I’m a fan of the Icon fans

Yes more expensive to install but significantly more reliable in the long run

It is halt tile, half paint but ve will redecorate soon and get some better paint!

Will also buy the icon 15 fan!

Thank you
