EDIT: it turned out the plug moved fine but i had a slotted waste on a non-overflow basin which was creating an air bubble

Hello

I am installing a bathstore basin and tap http://www.bathstore.com/_applicati...etro-washbowl-mixer-fixed-spout-252.html?pg=0

everything is plumbed in fine but the plug deosnt have enough movement to close or open fully.

i have the lever set up properly but no matter how i adjust the plug height and lever positions theres just not enough movement to either open it fully or close it fully.

the rod connector secures by a screw on the vertical rod but just has a hole for the horizontal rod, so there is some 'looseness'. even if it were tight though i dont think it would give enough movement.

any help appreciated!!

have you adjusted the bottom of the plug ?
it useally has a screw in the bottom.

yeah. many many times to the nth degree. this is what i'm trying to explain, there just isnt enough movement in the back of the tap.

when i disconnect the vertical rod and manually pull the horizontal one up and down it works perfectly. but the vertical rod at its extents doesnt have enough movement. i have been trying to adjust all day!!

can't see how it won't work.

the vertical - drop to its lowest.
the horizontal - drop to its lowest at the tap end highest at the plug end.

now do it up.

when you lift the vertical the horizontal at the tap end will drop more than enough for the plug.

the plug only moves about a inch max.
the lever will move about 2 inch.

thanks for the reply but i think your missing the point.

at the back of the tap there is a slot which the plug lever handle goes into. this is only 1" long so the handle can only go up and down an inch. its limited. if it went an inch and a half it would be fine.

thats plenty the plugs don't rise that much out of the basin waste.

bathstore sell millions of these tap and i can never say i had any probs with none of them.

how much is it up by when fully open ?
you'll be lucky if it touches 1/2"

the most movement i can get in the tap is about 4mm.

i can get it so it closes properly but when open it drains very very slowly

ok, on further investiogation the sklow draining could be something entirely different.

when i opent the plug it starts to drain normal speed but then stops. if i pull the plug up slightly it releases an air buble. once the air bubble releases it drains properly.

is there a reason why this air would be collecting under the plug?

believe it or not they useally do.
pop up wastes are cr*p and you end up taking the plug out the hole.

anything will drain slow with a lump of metal blocking 90% of any waste.

seco services/ do you have an idea about my air bubble issue?

when you drain a full basin with no plug in does it get a good swirl going and drain without gurgling etc ?

yeah but only after quite a bit of air releases.

after filling it up i pull the plug out and it will release a fairly large amount of air and then drain normally, no gurgling, creating a decent swirl unitl its drained fully.

now where getting somewhere.

this is a slotted waste.

non slotted.

it has a slot on the side for a overflow basin.
if you use this on a non overflow basion it creates air in the slots and then has to release at some stage and can restrict flow.
