Are you allowed a light switch in zone 3 in the bathroom?

Yes, providing is it suitable for its environment. But like many others, I wouldn't look to install a bog standard light switch in a bathroom under normal circumstances.

when you say suitable for its environment do you mean the correct IP rating? have you got any pictures of some light switches you are allowed???

ha, is a normal MK plastice one not good enough even though its in zone 3????

just use a ceiling pull switch, anyway there is no zone 3 in the 17th edition, providing that its more than 3m horizontally away from a bath or shower u could in theory plug a fridge in....

light switches are generally installed outside the bathroom and pull cord installed in zone 3, have you considered a PIR sensor?
