Until the other night when I started the original thread with the above title, my experience with iplayer had been always pleasant. Several people voiced their bad experiences with iplayer. I wonder how many people on this site have never had problems with it but didn't post.

It goes to show, a satisfied customer tells a friend, but a dissatisfied customer tells three.

me, i only use it for dr who, but as its not on i dont use it

Perhaps they've changed it since I tried it out (I think that was about 1 year ago), but I found it HORRIBLE! :x :x It's a trojan horse, basically.

The P2P functionality would carry on running even when you quit the software and closed it in the system tray. Some process which began with a "k" would carry on running, sapping your bandwidth without warning. I feel sorry for anyone with a tight cap on their data useage as they'd have hit it without even knowing.

I found C4OD a little better but still not great. :?

The Virgin On-Demand implementation of iPlayer and C4OD works very well. Although I'd be asking questions if it didn't, as it's running entirely on Virgin's own network rather than the internet! Plus it's there on your main viewing screen, not everyone has an HCPC.

You are confused Donk. Its C4OD that puts Kontiki on your PC. And the file is KHost.exe (part of Kontiki) not part of iPlayer.
