The bulb has gone and the instructions say dont try and repair it yourself. However,I live in a remote location where it would cost a bomb to get a technician to do it. It looks as though you might have to remove the cover(stainless steel) to get at it. Any advice please for a willing DIYer ?

Yes disconnect it from mains and remove outer skin - unless of course there is a small access point for the lamp alone in which case simply remove that access cover. You should have an idea from using the microwave as to general location of bulb. The outer skin usually slides off though it can be difficult to get it back in place as sides usually fit under lugs and you need three hands to ensure three sides are each going under lugs. Most bulbs screw out and you will need to get a replacement at a good DIY electrical store or get one by mail order for a couple of pounds. Sometimes the bulb just works loose. You can tell if the filament has broken just by looking at the bulb. Worth the effort to see your beans being heated up in subdued light!

Many thanks. Have located bulb and will do the job soon.Help appreciated
