decided to move the storage heater, only to find out the, I think they call it Abselux(?) ( biscuit coloured, insulation ) is absolutely jiggered....Any idea where i may obtain some new insulation, or a substitute, as the heater itself works fine
 
Unfortunately, you can't. The insulation is not a part that was designed to be replaced, and the company that made it is long gone.

The only spares available for heaters of that age are generic parts like elements, thermostats and possibly a few odd items like a control knob.
 
Is it really asbestos and if so what about the health risks in handling it?
