They use it for the school run. They use it to pop to the shops. They use it to post a letter. It's a car.

US rules on car fuel economy exclude it.

US Energy Tax Act
Main article: Energy Tax Act
The Energy Tax Act of 1978[58] in the US established a gas guzzler tax on the sale of new model year vehicles whose fuel economy fails to meet certain statutory levels. The tax applies only to cars (not trucks) and is collected by the IRS. Its purpose is to discourage the production and purchase of fuel-inefficient vehicles.

So there we have it, a CAR is not a TRUCK.

I could have sworn we were talking about the US market but it's seems we're on about Chelsea.

Ooh look, 3 SUVs that aren't in the top 10 of most popular US motor sales.

And even at that I believe the largest one of three is the GMC with a 3.6l petrol. Smallest being the Q8 at 3l.

I thought I said generally 3l or less?

Oh wait I did.

An "Energy Saving" tax which has been manipulated to guide citizens into buying huge, inefficient vehicles that use lots of fuel.

The US approach has other effects.

"Research on the trends in use of heavy vehicles indicate that a significant difference between the U.S. and other countries is the relatively high prevalence of pickup trucks and SUVs in the U.S. A 2003 study by the U.S. Transportation Research Board found that SUVs and pickup trucks are significantly less safe than passenger cars"

US specificities
Government-collected data, such as that from the U.S. Fatality Analysis Reporting System, show other countries achieving safety performance improvements over time greater than those achieved in the U.S.:[75]

1979 Fatalities 2002 Fatalities Percent Change
United States 51,093 42,815 -16.2%
United Kingdom 6,352 3,431 -46.0%
Canada 5,863 2,936 -49.9%
Australia 3,508 1,715 -51.1%

Why is it that every single thread seems to go off-topic and end up in a peeing competition?
