They were on about this on the radio the other day people placing bets on world events

Wars
Disasters

Etc

Some bloke in the states put a 30 grand bet on moduro ( venezuluan president) ) would no longer be in power by the end of a particular month

He won over 300,000 dollars on the out come

Some journalist investigated and after several months found out that it was one of the US marines who took part in the raid

I want a better that we will get 70c in November anywhere in the UK.

Would anyone take this bet?

Did that soldier do anything wrong? They were accepting bets on a really weird event, so something like that was likely to happen.

Given that the bookies all make a profit, it's obvious that most punters will lose on average. Otherwise the bookies would all be bankrupt.

It's an addiction, a human weakness. It's a lot like alcohol, drugs, smoking etc.

The bookies are also experts at manipulating the minds of their customers, into thinking that they're going to make money.

And yes, corruption is rife. Greyhound racing was always very well known for it. They can give the champion a bit of sleepy medicine very easily.

Fools, money, soon parted.

I haven’t been in a bookies for years but my dad used to say “Go in any bookies and see how many windows there are for taking money. Then look around and see how many windows there are for paying out money".
