BG day -any hints (useful)

Gasright - Have you completed your assessment day yet?

How did you do and also what did you do in the 1 hour of alloted time

its tomorrow mate and to be honest am bricking it because i'm totally unsure whats going to happen in that time.

Sitting down with the Corgi man for me was ok because i knew what was expected, but there id no information at all of what is expected in this assessment.

Will i be allowed to use the gas rate and ventilation formulaes that i alway keep in my wallet to refer to as with the corgi inspection?

Not sure mate. I'm in the same boat as you. My assessment is tomorrow afternoon at Leeds.

If i'd been before you i would have posted it here to help.

I think that there will prob be a question paper on gas regs with the obvious flues, ventillation. Maybe gas rating and ventilation to work out - the give-away there is if we see a calculator when we sit down. Don't think they'd let you use the slide rules but then again you passed your ACS without them

Then an individual talk/interview to find out more about you and a chance to ask them questions.

I've just been browsing through my viper book, sat last night and did free area of air vent. Tonight i'll briefly look at my 'Unsafe Sits' book

Good luck tomorrow

Thats about it,i would take your gas rate formulaes in with you, when i did mine i didnt, when questioned i just said "i can never remember i keep it written down to refer to" to which my assessor replied " not can i,heres mine" and he got his laminated card out of his back pocket!

ive never done one of these assessments but i doubt they will be expecting you to remember formulae off the top of your head.

you can use your books in your ACS or any QAE assessment when you are on the patch after all.

i keep the same cards in my wallet for gas rates and purging, though i never use the purge cards as its easy enough

Yep that question regarding the gas pipe that was pinched and soldered was in the paper. I classed it as ID. The test was mostly CLOSED book and there were 6 essential questions that you had to get right as a rule.

Test was for 1/2 an hour and i felt it was all a bit casual and that the test wasn't the be all and end all regarding the application process :)

The test was mostly CLOSED book

All of my paper was closed book. What did i say about the calculator

Same as you on the picture of the flattened gas pipe that was soldered but stated to be 'gas tight'. I classed it as ID -inappropriate fitting. However, a couple marked it as NCS

sorry, yep it was all closed book.

Did the assessor highlight 6 questions that HAD to be right?

I definetely got these right as they were mostly flue and vent questions.

Ther Unsafe situation questions were a bit unfair. As i always refer to my CORGI book

Must admit i didn't see many people use their calculators, only me

Then you were probably the only one who got those right. I used the calculator as well

Same as you with the unsafe pictures. I usually refer to book

Again, all 6 questions which you had to get right were highlighted.

We were told that its going to take up to 2 weeks before being notified as to either failing or passing. Then if one of the lucky ones back for an interview

Ah well

So out of the six that your in with is only one going to be called back?
