Big bang v creation.

It's simple really:

The scientist says that the universe started as a singularity of no substance that suddenly 'inflated'. Just like a hologram would.

The religious man says that God created the universe. Well if someone did design it and press the button to create a hologram world you can give him whatever name you like. Let's call him God shall we?

It's the only unified explanation that satisfies both science and religion.
But that's not the whole story is it. The religious men who made up the creationism stories did so in a time when virtually nothing was known about the universe. That's why they got it so wrong. The whole religion/creationism problem isn't so much the absence of evidence in support of the bible stories but the overwhelming evidence that it is full of errors and inconsistencies and that it was clearly written by mortal men purely for effect rather than truth.

Totally Agree JEDS.

AS Joe Said - "It's Simple".

Joe is just being his arrogant little self with unsubstantiated theories repeating the writings of Sci Fi authers.

Clearly he has not read the book I suggested he read namely The Grand Design by Stephen Hawking.

Come on then clever dick. Tell us what a singularity is and where it came from. (he won't). You are the Glasgow Muppet.

Geography's not your specialised subject either is it Joe? Glasgow's nowhere near East Lothian (try looking on google maps)
As for answering your question re-singularities, I'm still waiting for you to provide a link to singularities of no substance. You won't link to anything will you ? (he certainly won't )

As usual, when he's in a corner he goes all boring. Well fook off then, boring fart.

Just because Hawking looks like the inside of a Dalek doesn't mean he knows what he is talking about. It's all in the image like Colonel Sanders and Jimi Hendix.

We still know nothing about the universe. Probably never will, not in a billion years time.

Complete tosh. The Bible predicts exactly where we are today.

And predicted many other events so obviously not completely the word of a few goat herders from the desert.
And many other events in history..

The Greek empire - Daniel 2:39
The Roman empire - Daniel 2:40
The sudden demise of Alexander the Great - Daniel 8:8
Exiled to Babylon - Deut 28:32-33,36
Sacking of Jerusalem by the Romans - Deut 28:48-57
Formation of the Republic of Israel - Deut 30:2-5
Unification of Israel and Judah. - Ezekiel 37:22
Complete destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem - Luke 21:5-6, 20-24

Why does it mention sorcerers then? In ancient palestine they believed sorcery was real, and it ended up in the bible as a specific sin - coincidence?

There's a lot we don't know, but we do know more than they did 2000 years ago. I'm a general sceptic about most things, including science. I don't think science has the answer for everything and I'm open to the idea that a lot of what we think we know is subject to change and development. But a very large amount of what was written in the bible is patently untrue - especially when it comes to the Earth, Sun and Planets. These aren't theories or supposition, they are measureable, repeatable facts. So you have to question how and why the old stories were made up in the first place. The obvious conclusion is that people wondered and questioned the things they saw about them and they looked towards the leaders for answers. Knowing no different the leaders of the day (the religious leaders) came up with the best answers they could. So those old stories mean nothing - they are, literally, just stories.

I'm still waiting on the link for Singularities of no substance. Sounds like your the one who's stuck in the fookin corner.
Answer Joe, I did ask first.

Fook off boring fart. Your brains a singularity - just one brain cell.

Whats to say its not all stories now, substitute scientist for leaders, who's to say in a couple of thousand years it will be looked back on as a load of bull.

Unlike yours , mine at least has substance.
It's you who's becoming repetitive and extremely boring Joe. Your a has been. Time to retire your Commodore 64 mate. Hang up yer slippers, have a glass of Sanatogen and go to bed.

The reason it is not all stories now is that science required evidence and repeatable results from rigourous testing of that evidence.
Stories do not require evidence through rigourous testing, just your imagination.
This is where the Bible and Science are at odds. Nothing in the Bible stands up to even a little testing, all it requires is s your vivid imagination for it to become fact.

Has as been pointed out, they do agree on the creation, only arguing how it happened.
