Hello all... my predicament in a nutshell:

After having some rather nice and not inexpensive carpet laid throughout our upstairs landing and daughters bedroom, the other half decides that she would like a plug socket in a plaster wall on the landing (Typical!).

Now, if she had requested this little job before the carpet was laid then no problemo, everyones a winner....but I don't particularly want to pull up two brand new carpets to access the floorboards, so my only other option is to run horizontally from one socket to the spur.

I have read the other post today with regards to using conduit etc. which is not a problem, but inside the wall there's what looks like cardboard channeling running vertically with pre-cut holes, obviously for running cable, every couple of inches or so.

The length that i need to run is approx. 2m, is there any way that I can break through this cardboard channeling in order to run the cable horizontally?

I wondered if there was a bit of kit available that I could push through from one hole to the other which could also break the card... wishful thinking I reckon!

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Have you got plasterboard walls? With corrugated card insulation? If so, you could carefully cut channels thro the board and thread wires through conduit to a radial socket. This sort of mod is considered bad practice as pipes and wires are generally run vertically in interior walls. If there is no alternative then just make sure that the service is adequately protected.
