I have two upstairs radiators that are not working properly. The other 6 upstairs are all fine. Both have Drayton TRV3 bodies with replaced TRV4 Conversion heads. Both pins can be depressed manually. One radiator has some warmth to it but the other one is stone cold. Let's concentrate on this one. Last night I turned off all the other rads in the house to try to pressurise the faulty one. Nothing. This morning I closed the TRV and the lockshield valve and emptied the rad. With the pump still on I, again, closed down all the other rads but still water was not entering the rad in question. (I soon opened up a couple as I could hear the pump note rise!). The only way to refill the rad was from the return pipe via the lockshield valve.
On the face of it it seems to me either the TRV is faulty (its 20 years old) or there is a severe air lock, but given the procedure I carried out above, I would be surprised if its still there!
Then I searched on Google and found this website!
Can anyone help? It seems I could replace the TRV (but how do I do that without draining the system?). Or is there an airlock?? I installed the original system myself some 20 years ago.
