blue film on glassware/streaks on glasses- Miele dishwasher

Can anyone help ? Have new Miele dishwasher and the glasses are either spotted with white bits,, ( have turned the water softener down and now they are a bit better) or have blue/white streaks down some sides and on the edges of the knives in top cutlery tray. I was so pleased to get such a 'good ' machine but now i really don't want it to last 20 weeks let along 20 years!

All ideas gratefully received.

sounds a bit like a salt problem. suggest using the new three in one tablets. Forget the softener and the salt.

Thanks for the advice. Miele have been v very helpful and constructive in their advice too. Problem not yet sorted but it is good to work with real 'customer service' for a change!
