My gas boiler has over the years had so many failures that we got a policy with D&G - which worked out well because they ended up replacing virtually every major part.
I just got my renewal quote and it has jumped from 30-40 quid a month which seemed a lot. But then I looked online for a comparison and was shocked to find that the most expensive quote I could find was about half what I currently pay (from HomeServe) and some are half that again. And that's ticking every box for plumbing & electric cover which I don't currently have.

I'm partly a bit scandalised how much I've been paying but also a little suspicious, can they really be that much cheaper? We're in "too good to be true" territory almost.

So I thought I'd see what anyone else thinks, what you pay and if you ever had to claim. I wouldn't typically have this sort of insurance but my whole CH system is kind of f***ed (used to be coal) and the peace of mind is worth it for me given how troublesome it has been.

Buyer beware .
New boiler would be my choice given you have an old inefficient , unreliable boiler

I’d like one. But… Given the problems with the boiler seem to be linked to the system it’s connected to, I don’t want to attach a nice to boiler and wreck that one too. And that’s a bigger, more expensive job I do not have time for.

Hence the question.

That’s why you overhaul the entire system , cheaper than endless repairs which will eventually require a new boiler anyway .

What boiler do you have and what problems have you been having . Have you looked at how much the actual manufacturer charges for boiler cover
