Hi, hoping for some help.

I have a Caple 1 boiling tap. It’s three years old and suddenly the electric boiler under the sink has started to trip the circuit board.

There are no signs of leaked water and nothing else has changed. I have tried plugging it into another socket and it also trips so it’s definitely the boiler unit.

Caple are saying that it’s discontinued and can only be replaced by a pressurised version, which means replacing the tap too - near on £900!!

I have tried to open it to see if maybe the element could be replaced but the unit is sealed and trying to open it has damaged it.

Question - I don’t want to spend £900 on a new tap and boiler. Does anyone know if I can just replace the boiler unit with something similar? I’ve posted a photo here so you can see exactly the boiler that I have. The bit of scratched off label says 1200w.

Many thanks

Which trip is tripping? What are the markings on that device?
