Hi all,

I notice the other day there was a bolt loose under my pedals, and am concerned on where it came from and if it needs to be seen to or not. I've tried to take a picture of the view up towards to steering wheel and have notice what I think is where the bolt belongs on the steering column, but I'm not sure what I'm looking at so would like a more experienced second opinion!

Car is Kia Picanto Domino, 1.1l, 60 reg and has done roughly 87k miles.

Hope you guys can help,

James

has the car been in a crash? it looks like it has had a suspicious welded repair.

show us the bolt.

Hasn't been in a crash, when I bought it, it was cat registered on any level, though I agree it does seem a little corroded.

This is the bolt

Ignore the welding and lack of paint - Nissans are similar.
You can see the pinch bolt on the universal joint - can you see the other end which is out of shot?
I must say, I was expecting to see some yellow paint!
Are you certain its from your car....its an A2 stainless screw which isnt very common!
John:)

What is the yellow paint?
Well I'm pretty sure it's from the car, it was resting on top of the foot rest next to the clutch when I saw it, so looks like it has fallen and landed on there.

The bolt heads are dabbed with paint so you can see at a glance if they are slackening.
Check the pedal box holding the clutch and brake pedals, and also the accellerator pedal area for a similar item.

That's a plan, considering it was resting on the foot rest next to the clutch, I would imagine it would belong to the clutch and maybe at a push the brake. But will give it a good look over tomorrow afternoon.

Do check the other clamp bolt on the universal joint, as I mentioned before!
Hope you find something!
John :)
