Each separate light has a 3 core flex . I was given a lego block type connector in the pack . There is no earth connection to the light metal casing. Do I fix another 3 core cable into the lego block and the other end into a quickwire switch and load connector joined to the ceiling wires which are hanging. Will this then be earthed ? Thank you

Please tell us what kind of lamps are fitted and or show us a picture of the whole thing. Some light fittings need to be earthed and some do not but the earth cable must have continuity back to the consumer unit to be safe and that can only be achieved by connecting your light fitting to the earth cable in the ceiling in some manner. Also show us a picture of what is in the ceiling hole.

bulb holder has provision for an earth wire, if a three core cable was terminated into a lamp holder as shown, there would be no need for other earth connections, and if it has this sign 
no need for an earth, so if no sign you test to see if earthed with a tester using at least 200 mA if following the rule book, but in real terms any meter will do to ensure earth wire connected.
