The problem with capitalism is that those who get rich from it then use their money to influence govt policy.
The problem with communism is that those who get rich from it use their money to impoverish and enslave everybody. We are under the communist heel in Britain right now.

This is patently NOT 'Wee Murray's' first rodeo as far as being 'chucked' out of class is concerned. Murray will be a **** who mouths off at every turn, spoiling the education of others in his low-grade-not-quite-bad-enough-for-exclusion way. He'll cause the learning to stutter every 2 minutes. Had he filmed my staff as they administered school policy (sensible or daft), then posted it online- I would have excluded him.
Your way is correct Charlie and I'm sure you did well for your pupils BUT I'll bet you didn't have to teach them stuff forced on you by a political lobby group.

And Murray was excluded for posting the video:

I don't go to church and don't believe in god but I know many who do, and they are way, way better, kinder and more honest than the typical non-religious person.
That's the truth, and whether you believe in Christianity or not you are living in the peace, wealth and freedom that it has provided. Only a handful of countries are as free as ours, the rest of the word is run by tyrants and thugs. Our freedom is not the natural way of things, it was fought for by our Christian predecessors, and look how less free we are becoming, by the day, as Christianity is driven out.

Not so long ago saying "You seem very gay today" or "I'm jolly gay today" meant something completely different from what the new generation thinks.
However, I insist on using such expressions in order to offend these lunatics.
Not so long ago you could feel very gay one minute and then come over all queer the next.

Freedom thanks to Christianity? Someone should tell Japan and Taiwan.

Good listen, but if tight for time, 7:53, 12:50 and 22:08.

To be more specific in regard to this matter i'll refer to Christ's ministry in bringing a New Covenant, contained within scripture in the New Testament to avoid getting bogged down in "ecumenical matters"...

The study of covenants now brings us to the ultimate covenant in all of Scripture, that covenant which is the fulfillment and extension of all prior covenants between God and his people, expanding the benefits to people from the nations of the earth. Jeremiah 31:31–34 promised the new covenant...

"In the beginning was the Word" - then Telemachus sneezed and all Hell broke loose.

Good gods, the others you meet must be awful.

You're conflating the people who attend church with those who run it. That's a lot like judging the people who shop at Tesco based on the company's behaviour.

Also you've plucked out a few negative incidents. So what? You could also pluck out several bad things the human race has done and conclude that therefore all humans are horrible.

As an atheist I generally find that most religious people are better human beings than the average. This is my view, based on actual practical experience and not drum-banging.

I've come to this conclusion after being one of those who thought that all religions and those who follow it are stupid. I've since concluded that they're not, most probably privately don't believe every word but accept that it makes people behave better towards each other and it has lots of other positive effects.

Thanks - interesting article, and he does actually sound like a pretty decent young chap who's been dealt with extremely unfairly. Here's what actually happened...

It began after a class website featured a dropdown menu with two genders, male and female; the teacher said that was an "old-fashioned" opinion and a "controversial" statement to make. Speaking out to say that it's scientifically correct that there are two sexes quickly led to Murray being asked to leave the room.

Full credit to him for getting to uni in spite of this cretinous teacher effectively banning him from taking his exams.

You enjoy your wallowing in superstition and mythology, don't you...

It depends on your perspective. In some cases it depends whether you're the one carrying the AK-47,

or being blown up

or having to blow yourself up

in others whether you're allowed to go out

in others, whether you like the person who has been given permission to sexually assault you

in others whether you have any freedom in what you spend all day doing

or what you have to wear

in others whether you get an education,
even extending toy whether you can be taught about evolution

whether you want a set of morality off the shelf telling you what to do with your life

whether you happen to have been born as someone your religion refers to as an abomination

whether you have to learn to believe a load of crap that someone else invented

and make lame excuses for what even you, can't go along with

and that.

It is old fashioned, deciding that no other option is allowed after that's pointed out is controversial. Possibly very controversial if there were any trans students in the class. But we'd never find that out as teachers have to abide by rules.

I'd mark that down, in the same way I'd mark a website that doesn't take accessibility into account.

Russian Atheist Nazi Communists I believe you meant.

By word of mouth initially. There are no contemporaneous records of Jesus. Worshipping a specific god (there are thousands) is just the luck of the draw, depending on where you were born.

Didn't the Roman government wrote what became the modern bible? I'm sure I read, or saw on TV, they set up a government group to control the new religion that they first tried to oppress. They did this to enable them to take control in an attempt to create a unified religion, that could stand up against the pagan beliefs that us northern barbarians held, and also caused so much trouble for a weakening Roman state. The Apostle according to Magdalene, was completely edited out - she was supposedly his closest disciple who knew his stories better than anybody else. Most of the old texts were removed to create a much shorter, and quite repetitive, new testament.

It seems to be a feature of the human brain that we like to "believe" in something. Some try to take advantage of this by trying to use this need to bend people to their will. But many parts of all religions centre around people not crapping on each other, so that the population as a whole benefits from people helping each other.

Much of the negative associations come from those who are using it to their own ends and/or misinterpreting things in whatever way they choose.

Much of the selfish shallow crap that currently goes on is the result of a lack of any deep meaning in people's lives. If you don't care about anyone else then doing anything that benefits you is good, provided you think you'll get away with it. Ultimately life itself is utterly pointless if you strip everything back to logic.

I haven't seen any evidence that there is a god. On the other hand I find it hard to believe that everything in the universe is the random result of chemical reactions, and this theory has not been proven either. I'm completely happy to not know, and I'm happy that I can't know either way, and probably nobody ever will. Anyone stating with certainty either way can't prove anything.
