I have some virgin earth how should i prepare it ie; a base, before i build a brick wall( only 8 bricks high).

dig down 450mm deep 300 wide and put 150mm concrete in the trench. make it 450mm wide for a double brick or 9" wall.
Thanks for the advice, i don't need to put any hardcore down first then?
