The flip side argument is that it is only the existence of the State of Israel which caused all the terrorism in the first place.

But it didn't. I posted somewhere else of the terrorist deaths by Islamists, it was IIRC 250,000 in the past 50 years. Not by wars, note, but actual terrorist attacks. Palestinians have carried out a small fraction of these as a result, it can be argued, of the Gaza situation, but given their history we can be fairly sure they'd commit a lot more if they had the chance. Not just against Israel and the West but against other Muslim countries, No. 1 on their list being Jordan.

And just imagine what would happen if Palestine was a nuclear power instead of Israel. There'd be cities levelled in a dozen countries before lunchtime.

Israel is in the wrong place, that's the crux of the problem. The only civilised country and the only democracy in the Middle East, it is surrounded by barbaric countries that wish to destroy it. Israel will always have to fight for its survival and the conflict will never end.
