Tritton biarritz 8.5kw shower, just recently it has developed the problem where if you switch it off on the shower, it will switch off the heater, but not the water, so when it is off, its acting as if its on cold, the switch does not seem to feel any less 'positive' than before, and switching it back and forwards does not make the problem intermittant. The only way to switch off the water flow is with the pullcord show isolator.

Any ideas?, is there some kind of water temp sensor in there which detects whether it needs to flush hot water out the system? before it broke it used to run for about 1 second after switching it off, but I am not sure whether that is the feature or whether it just takes that long for the watre to finish falling out the shower head, becuase i've seen showers which ran cold for about 5-6 seconds after switching off

An overrun feature would be useful to flush out hot water in the can, so that it doesn't overheat, but if yours only used to run for a second then that's probably not such a feature, as 1s isn't long enough.

But it might be what you suggest, or it might be a broken switch - sometimes the "switch" consists of a bank of microswitches operated by cams on the shaft of the knob you turn. If one of them goes out to lunch the "feel" does not change.

Have you looked inside? If you can get at the switch which controls the flow (it should be obvious from the wiring to the inlet valve solenoid) you could test its action with your multimeter.

Have you tried phoning the Triton technical service dept?

Thanks BAS,

The problem was as you said a faulty microswitch, it was about 20-30kohm across it when it was not pressed, replaced it with one out an old shower which was laying around and the problem was fixed

Good-oh.

If you're married or similar, I hope you point to your S.O. this real and practical instance of "something coming in handy one day"
