Wiring matters says 30ma... I'm assuming they are a reputable source, with being an IEE publication and all

It is however only for where installations where people arn't 'skilled or instructed' , not that it really helps you at all, but interesting to note
 
Never mind RCD co's, I'm off to buy shares in Doncaster Cables. :lol: I reckon we're gonna see a lot more concentric cable, especially for lighting drops.

You'll be wasting your pocket money if the DPC is anything to go by, Concentric cables outside the safe zones appears to have disappeared!! (522.6.6)

Dont bother with the shares in wylex they've told our merchants they dont have the time, machines or tools to make the number of RCBO's that'll be required.

No, because all current reports indicate 30mA protection for practically everything.

Ding, what I said is correct. I said 100A RCD, not 100mA RCD!

That left the road open for debate as to the trip current value for the incomer..........

I see that one of the home builder companies (cant remember which) now install a dual tarrif type board on all their new houses. This has a standard main switch feeding two 30mA RCDs, one RCD for sockets, one RCD for the rest. I think this may end up being the 17th edition solution that makes the new regs 'affordable'
ie not RCBOs on all circuits (sorry JD) :wink:
 
I know this threads been dead a while but, the board your talking about is refered to as the Notts board, used by Nottingham City Council and manufactured by Wylex. I was shown one very recently by the only guy near us that fits them or even orders them.

With every job he fits them to he has to send a disclaimer which wylex have agreed to, as the board fails to meet the requirements of the 16th, dont know why cos i had to dash before discussing all the in and outs.
 
will get one, its a special order product from wylex and they refer to it as the Notts board as well.

100A Main on RHS, 63A 30mA RCD folowed by 5 ways then another 63A 30mA RCD and another 5 ways.Looks other than that like a standard wylex board.
 
like TTC said, Two banks of MCBs fed by individual 30mA rcds is probably going to be the best compromise between inconvience and cost, along with making sure the circuits are divided sensibly, eg like (was it bernard?) said, power circuits on a different RCD than the lights in the same room, hallway/ landing lights on the other RCD from the lights in the rooms off them

As for the board lcgs is talking about, I seem to remember a pic of a very similar thing from hager a few years back, one isolator feeding into two RCD protected banks of MCBs, designed for TT and came with 100ma and 30ma, I imagine this is just a very similar thing, except with two 30ma RCDs ?
