Hello,

BT line comes into the house (master point with a cap) the internet speed here is 4mb. an additional point was already installed 25m away off of the same line. this point is also a master. however the internet speed here is only 1mb. the voltage at both points are 50v.

any suggestions on what is making the internet speed slow down?

i think it maybe segregation on band 1 and band 2....?

You only need to have one master socket per line, the rest should be normal telephone secondary sockets.
As for line speed dropping, is the interconnecting cable good quality or cheap poo?

Their is 2x master points because the wire feeding the 2nd phone line is a 'telephone extension' cable 2pair piece of crap... 2 cores cut off so no 3rd wire for ringer.

this could be the issue?

There's the problem. Use rubbish cable and you can expect rubbish results.

Either way the broadband modem/router should be connected to the main socket where the line enters the building.

was the second point installed by sky? They did our extension with only two cores, despite using 4 core cable.
